Spotlight on Cassidy Dalton
“I love this job,” Cassidy says with a smile. “My mom says this is my first ‘real’ job, and I agree with her. I worked at a grocery store before this, but I was never passionate about it. It’s nice to be doing something that I always wanted to do, and everyone at the firm has made me feel so comfortable.”
Cassidy Dalton grew up in Danville, Virginia, a small town right on the North Carolina border. She’s one of four siblings—with one brother and two sisters—and credits her dad, who works as a paralegal, for sparking her early interest in the legal world. After graduating with a BA in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, Cassidy decided it was time to take that interest more seriously.
A First Step Into the Legal World
Though Cape Fear Family Law is the first law firm she’s worked for, Cassidy has been drawn to the profession for years. In college, she found her prelaw classes both challenging and inspiring. Add to that the influence of her dad’s career, and the seeds for her own path in law were planted.
But her connection goes even deeper. When Cassidy was young, her parents divorced. She remembers how her dad’s attorneys treated her during that time—with respect, dignity, and kindness. “Even in the middle of something really hard,” she says, “they listened to me and made me feel like an adult.” That experience stayed with her and convinced her that people in the legal field could do more than just resolve cases—they could make others feel seen and supported.
As for her future? Cassidy is content to take things one step at a time. She’s open to the idea of earning her paralegal certification down the road or picking up new skills that will help her excel in her role. For now, she’s happy where she is, embracing a “wait and see” approach.
Life Outside the Office
When she’s not greeting clients with a friendly smile, Cassidy is busy with a very different kind of audience. A passionate musician, she plays bass and sings in Garden Party, a Wilmington-based band that has performed for some impressive crowds. “I loved the rush it gave me,” she says proudly. Music isn’t just a hobby for her—it’s a way of expressing herself, whether she’s performing live, writing songs at home, or building her ever-growing vinyl collection. Her stereo setup is a centerpiece in her apartment.
Cassidy also loves being in the crowd just as much as she enjoys being on stage. She’s an avid concertgoer, a romance fiction fan, and a devoted cat mom to her feline sidekick, Chadwick. Her downtime often includes practicing with her band, playing Dungeons and Dragons with friends, or heading outdoors for some fishing—something that often surprises people who don’t peg her as “the outdoorsy type.”
She describes herself as funny, approachable, and kind. Recently, she enjoyed her first trip to New York City, and she also loves visiting family in Connecticut when she can. Her dream vacation? Exploring a new place far from the usual tourist traps, diving into the local culture to truly get a sense of its heart and soul.
As Cassidy looks ahead, she’s excited to see where life—and Cape Fear Family Law—take her next. With her warm personality, creative spirit, and strong sense of purpose, it’s clear she’s only just getting started.
