Where’s His Career Heading?
Alex was familiar with the legal profession before his time with Cape Fear Family Law. He did a pair of summer internships with Hall Render, a health-focused law firm in Raleigh. He also spent time working for a solo legal practitioner based in Chapel Hill, who primarily handled employment discrimination law. He took part in projects related to the legal profession during his time in law school. These mainly involved researching prosecutors and local statutes.
Alex says getting involved in the legal niche is something he has wanted to do since he was a kid. His mom wanted to be a lawyer, and her desire further bolstered Alex’s ambitions.
He says that at the end of the day, he wants to become an expert in the law so that he can help people. He believes that lawyers in family law often encounter individuals during their most challenging moments. He likes being there and assisting in guiding them through the process.
He also appreciates the more subtle nuances of the law. He thinks it’s not just about a statute written on a page, but also about how a judge analyzes the law and applies it in real-world situations. Alex feels interpreting the law is only half the battle. The other half is helping humans navigate the statutes pertaining to their lives.
For Alex, it’s not about stacking up accolades. He says that instead of being on the 30 Under 30 Best Lawyers List, he’d like to be known as someone who’s competent and follows a strict moral and ethical code.
What Does His Downtime Look Like?
Alex is in a loving relationship with his girlfriend, who’s currently pursuing her Master of Education degree at the University of North Carolina. She’s thinking about starting a consulting business, and she’s also an actress. They have no children, but Alex considers himself the co-parent of their German Shepherd. He was also instrumental in raising Hunni, his mom’s Goldendoodle.
He likes staying busy when he’s not working. He enjoys knitting and reading. He primarily gravitates toward nonfiction, though he says he’s typically interested in anything with a compelling story. He likes to meditate when he gets a chance, and he’s no slouch in the physical fitness department.
He enjoys traveling and has fond memories of a trip he took to Morocco while in college. He says his perfect vacation would be somewhere he and his girlfriend can go with beach access. An all-inclusive resort would be ideal.
On his days off, Alex enjoys spending time with friends and family. He might grab a workout as a way to stay in shape and cope with stress. He enjoys dining out and is particularly fond of Italian, American, or hibachi. He might also see a movie and says he likes anything with action and a well-developed story.
