Job Description:
As a Partner in our law firm, you will be a linchpin in our dynamic legal operation, functioning as the integral element that ensures the continuity and efficiency of our firm. Your role carries significant responsibility and prestige as a Partner; you are expected to drive the operational excellence of the office, constantly managing complex cases. The successful candidate for this position will exhibit an mastery in family law matters and increasingly extensive experience. This role is demanding, requiring not only technical skill but also a proactive approach and strategic mindset. Your performance will be critical to the success of our firm and the satisfaction of our clients. NOTE: Equity partners have a separate contract which designate their additional responsibilities.
- Legal Expertise Advancement: Partners are seasoned attorneys with substantial experience in family law. They possess a deep understanding of the complexities and nuances of family law. They stay up-to-date with changes in family law regulations and precedents as well as take on increasingly complex cases and legal issues. They are able to and do train associate attorneys in part by allowing them to sit second chair.
- Advanced Legal Research: Proficiency in navigating legal databases to unearth answers to complex legal queries through statutes, case law, precedents, and extensive courtroom experiences. Crafting meticulously researched memorandums and demonstrating the aptitude to discern and argue the distinctions between reported and unreported cases across diverse legal domains.
- Client Advocacy & Relationship Cultivation: Masterfully representing clients in a diverse array of legal proceedings, exhibiting unwavering compassion and unwavering professionalism. This encompasses a multifaceted spectrum of court hearings, negotiations, and mediation sessions. Championing the interests of clients, safeguarding their rights, and ensuring their positions are eloquently articulated within the judicial arena. Seasoned attorneys manage client relationships with finesse, encompassing billing, communication, and ensuring clients are consistently apprised of the evolution of their case(s).
- Mentoring and Training: Partners often mentor and provide guidance to associate attorneys and senior associate attorneys as well as the legal support team. They share their knowledge and experience to help develop the skills of less-experienced team members. Leadership on and participation with teams within the office for expansion of the law firm.
- Compliance & Ethical Leadership: Exemplifying an unwavering commitment to the highest ethical standards and an intimate familiarity with the legal code of ethics. Resolutely preserving client confidentiality, steering clear of conflicts of interest, and unwaveringly acting in the best interests of clients as a fundamental obligation. Facilitating clients’ adherence to legal requirements and ensuring their comprehensive understanding of the pertinent laws and regulations mandated by the court.
- Calendar & Matter Management Excellence: Exercising meticulous precision in creating, sustaining, and updating a comprehensive calendar to ensure unfailing accuracy and attendance at all mandated court appearances. Ensuring the meticulous cataloging of all activities in CLIO within the appropriate client matter, encompassing time entries, notes, document management, drafts, and communications. Pioneering the correct coding and upload of these components into CLIO. Prudent preparation and pre-filing of all essential materials for meetings, communications, and court appearances.
- Legal Educator and Business Development: Active participation in legal marketing initiatives as required, including but not limited to blog authorship, video contributions, and leveraging various social media opportunities. Involved in business development activities such as networking, attending conferences, and seeking new clients and referral sources. A zealous commitment to continued education, encompassing the delivery of continuing legal education courses, involving meticulous research for presentations, manuscript composition, practice presentations within the firm, and the creation of compelling PowerPoint presentations.
Team Contribution and Commitment:
- As part of our team, the Associate Attorney is expected to:
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with more senior attorneys, legal support specialists, paralegals, and other administrative staff to ensure seamless service to our clients. This includes understanding the duties of support staff and stepping in as a second chair in trials.

- Communication: Facilitate effective communication within the team, ask questions to gain understanding, and engage listening skills. Be polite and respectful to all team members and support staff.

Qualifications:
- A Juris Doctorate degree (J.D.) from an accredited university.
- NC State Bar license to practice law.
- Ability to teach, train, and grow your own knowledge of high level office technology.
- Healthy interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Mastery knowledge of law, legal procedures, and protocols, particularly in family law.
- Ability to manage any emergency legal situation.
- Full management of multiple litigation files and maintenance of a case list.
