A proud North Carolina native, Kara was born and raised in sunny Carolina Beach. She spent over 20 years working for an attorney, focusing on real estate, estate planning, and civil litigation. After his retirement, she saw an opportunity to explore family law and found it was where she belonged. The transition felt like the perfect fit, and she loves the variety and how personally meaningful the work can be. Kara values the supportive, community-forward environment at Cape Fear Family Law, where she’s embraced new tools and systems, even diving into AI technology with curiosity and confidence. Having started her career with typewriters, carbon paper, and DOS programs, she enjoys learning today’s modern systems and often surprises herself with how much she can do.
Every day brings something new, and she’s proud to keep growing alongside the firm in the future. The people-focused nature of family law is the right place for her to continue personally and professionally evolving.
Outside of work, Kara is all about family. She lives together with her daughter and two grandchildren. Most weekends are spent cheering her teenage grandson on at wrestling matches or doing arts and crafts with her sassy 6-year-old granddaughter. She’s also a dedicated cook, always on the hunt for high-protein recipes to fuel her growing athlete at home. When she does find a moment to herself, you’ll likely catch her relaxing with a true crime show or an old Law & Order episode.
Whether at home or in the office, Kara leads with compassion, loyalty, and a genuine love for learning, qualities that make her a valued part of the Cape Fear Family Law team.
